JOB DESCRIPTION

This role reports into the Head of Commercial Finance and will have regular interaction with the CFO and exposure to the CEO, other executives and the Senior Leadership Team.

Key purposes of the role

· To work closely with the MD and managers of each business unit, developing and delivering insightful commercial analysis to help drive sales, profit and value.

· To deliver periodic management information, budgets and forecasts.

 

Critical success factors

To be proactive in the provision of:

· Clear, timely, accurate and easily understandable information.

· Truly insightful management information that the business can engage with and act upon.

· A challenging but achievable budget that the Business Units own; regular forecasting updates which allow the business to identify (and act on) risks and opportunities.

 

Key responsibilities (to include, but are not limited to):

· Be the key Finance point of contact / support for the MD and the Operational Business unit owners, establishing strong credibility and working in a supportive and objective manner.

· Provide commercial analysis and insight in relation to key operational decisions and strategic initiatives, with a simple narrative that is easily understood by non-financial stakeholders.

· Provide weekly and monthly KPI reporting that demonstrates real insight and drives action.

· Manage the planning, forecasting and budgeting processes.

· Provide ad hoc support to the Head of Commercial Finance, CFO and wider SLT on operational and financial matters

· Demonstrates a genuine interest in the business, spanning retail, leisure and hospitality

· Is commercially aware and has the gravitas and credibility to work with the Senior Leadership Team.

· Is a great communicator and relationship builder with all levels.

· Is self-confident and tenacious with good influencing skills but remains down to earth with a non-ostentatious approach.

· Is proactive, thinks strategically and is passionate about delivering insightful information.

Skills and experience

Essential:

· Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)

· Excellent Excel skills and experience in financial modelling.

· Experience of delivering budgets and the process of achieving stakeholder buy-in.

· Proven track record of drawing a simple narrative that is easy to understand from complex information

· Strong presentation skills (PowerPoint).
